YNOT FAQ

What should I be doing when NOT at Boot Camp?  At least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise, (ie walking, jogging, swimming, biking) on the days when you are not at book camp.

How often should I eat in one day?  6 to 8 small meals, as opposed to 2 to 3.  Reasons for that, is that we need to train our bodies to burn the fuel that we put in, as opposed to storing it as fat deposits.

What type of clothing do I need for Boot Camp?  Wicking material is best, as it allows the body to breath and sweat to evaporate, and allows you to cool down.  (COTTON IS ROTTEN!)

Are there special shoes that I need?  A good cross trainer or running shoe is suggested when participating in any aerobic exercise.  As it gives proper support to your feet and ankles.

Why does exercise hurt?  When you exercise, you tear muscle.  As muscle regenerates it grows back denser and stronger.

How often should I rest before working each muscle group?  Muscle needs at least 24 hours to repair itself.  So you should alternate upper body and lower body if you are working out every day.

How do I know if I am injured?  Usually if pain goes away within 10 minutes of an activity, you will be alright to continue exercise.  If not, you should stop the exercise immediately and contact your physician.

Is it ok to exercise while pregnant?  If you are fit, it is a general rule that you may exercise up to the third trimester.  But always obtain a physician’s referral before beginning any exercise program.

Does everyone work out at the same level?  No.  Everyone has their own level of endurance and strength.  Boot Camp is structured as such that individuals determine the maximum output according to their own ability.

How long will it take to get into shape?  Everyone’s physiological make up is different.  Some will take longer than others.  The general rule is that anything done for 30 days becomes a habit, and fitness is a lifestyle change, not a magic pill.

Do Men and Women both participate?  Yes, both young and old.  It is never too late to start a fitness program.
